Sunny was born in 1954 in Florida and raised there until she moved to the scenic mountains of Tennessee with her children in
1986. She studied some Art at East Tennessee State University, but is primarily self-taught. Applying poetry, romance, and unique tranquility in her works, she leaves traces of metaphysical
realms of imagination where fiction and reality meet, meanings shift, and the past, present, and future merge. A lifetime of memories, bold fantasies and a childlike heart play key roles in her
creations.
Her past works include: 3 murals, one covering 520 square feet; numerous acrylic & watercolor paintings as well as
Zentangle and calligraphy pieces; multiple costume and textile creations, including 2 woven tapestries; compositions, computer-based graphic art designs, and numerous photographic works focusing on
the use of natural light and textures in nature.
Artist’s Statement:
My inspirations come from life and what it has to offer. Daily interactions with my surroundings, family, friends and nature
give me the spiritual force and compel me to construct images of the heart whether they are impressionistic, experimental, illustration, abstract, mixed media or realistic.
