Barbara Brown Jernigan has been an artist at heart since she was eight years old. Studying from that early age and into college, she detoured into other professions but never gave up her art. Her passion for watercolor was at the inspiration of her high school art teacher. She has exhibited in local and regional shows in Tennessee, Florida and at Rocky Mountain Water media in Colorado. She is a member of the Florida and Tennessee Watercolor societies. the Watauga Valley Art League and the Kingsport Art Guild. She teaches watercolor locally at the Johnson City Senior Center and Carver Recreation Center and offers workshops at Sycamore Shoals Historic Park.
Barbara's subjects range from portraits to landscapes, usually rendered in a loose, wet style. With a background in printing and stationary, she specializes in home and garden portraits with printed note cards for both individual and commercial clients.
