        Newell Hendershot Watermedia Exhibition

      August 5th to 31st, 2017

The 10th biennial Newell Hendershot Water-media Exhibition 2017 opens with a reception on August 6th, at 1:30 p.m., Sycamore Shoals State Historic Area visitors center, 1651 West Elk Avenue in Elizabethton.

This August show is open to members of the Tennessee Watercolor Society, the Watauga Valley Art League, and the Kingsport Art Guild. Water-media which includes watercolor, acrylic, and gouche on paper and other alternative water-media surfaces will be accepted from the artists with membership in one of these organizations. The public is invited to the demo and reception.  Cason Rankin, judge for the show, will present a demo at the opening and awards reception on August 6th at 1:30 to 2:30. Ms. Rankin has a studio in the River Arts District in Asheville and is a nationally known water-media artist. She holds signature memberships in National Watercolor Society, and Florida Watercolor Society.  Her work has been published in numerous national publications and art magazines.

All artists featured here are members of the Watauga Valley Art League and display a sampling of their artwork for your enjoyment.  Paintings may be purchased through direct contact with the individual artist.
